Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves. ~ Carl Jung, Swiss psychologist (1875 - 1961)
Who is the ENTp?
The ENTp "Searcher" represents the "Shy Extrovert" of the social world who eternally can't decide which language is better: JavaScript or Klingon? They desire recognition, prestige, achievement, approval, and don't forget that incessant need for admiration.
The basic belief of these types approximates with a need to attain a position of distinction or merit due to their privileged birthright over others. These guys display exhibitionist characteristics with the desire to express themselves and fascinate others.
With an innate need for love and respect from others they enjoy overpowering others with the magic force of their expressions. They want to charm, mesmerise, magnetise and subjugate others allowing for a fusion of souls.
These image-conscious folks have a hyper-sensitivity to rejection preferring to observe and watch others before making their approach. They want to merge and identify with the awe-inspiring object of interest through attentive looking, hearing and touch.
The ego of these guys demands imaginative creativity and seeing possibilities in the cosmos, going after new challenges to satisfy these needs. Ultimately they want some kind of fame from travelling the globe as a motivational speaker to the depths of space exploring the galaxy on the first warp-five-capable starship.
The ENTp "Searcher" closely matches the character of Ross Geller Ph.D. in television series Friends with his firm communication style, infantile erotic attitude and his overall irrational-extroverted temperament.
This clip demonstrates the "disorganized diplomacy" of the ENTp nerd with his underdeveloped introverted ethics function. Like most of the NT "researchers" club his intellect developed far ahead of his social aptitudes.
His Ph.D in "goodness knows what" represents the general nature of researchers to excel in the academic arena where they can 'hide' themselves away for many years before joining "polite society".
The ENTp nerd comes from the Alpha quadra having usually invented or introduced some new lines of thought into the socion. With his child-like needs he expects to win people over with his uniqueness and naive-ingenuity.
Another interesting element of the ENTp nerd equates to his compensatory narcissistic behaviours, defined as an attempt to alleviate anxiety by obtaining social recognition and prestige.
"..after fight club we all started
seeing things differently.." — Jack
In this film trailer we see the ENTp prodigy (Jack, the narrator) giving us his extroverted intuition (Ne) account of how slothful and unsatisfying the ongoing drudgery of the introverted sensing (Si) world feels to him.
Fight Club represents a film exploring the dissatisfaction with the status quo that strong Ne types endure silently. Jack creates his fight club in rebellion of the Si subjectivist world aiming to effect some global change for pleasure and sport.
The ENTp prodigy usually starts out life as a model student in school through to university and if bold enough will eventually create an "exit strategy" and break away from the rat race. When their true whiz kid nature surfaces they will likely become a popular celebrity icon on the small screen and on the web.
Ayn Rand, Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, all examples of ENTp prodigies who found fame after years of mindless stagnation in the subjectivist world which eventually gave birth to their insights. From Objectivism to Relativity to Psychoanalysis these originators have brought about their own "fight club" style changes to the world i.e. those who get involved in these nerdy clubs of study should generally not mention it to common people as it will freak them out.
Let's take Ayn Rand again for example, she successfully authored a few fictional books based on Objectivism thus engaging the right-brain and effecting change through story telling rather than theories and diagrams. Therefore the ENTp prodigy who turns their ideas into a form that people can relate to can profit big from it.
In this music video we see the ENTp techie giving us a showcase of his technocratic lifestyle involving the trials and tribulations of relating to the less appreciative of technology folks.
His distinguished stimulus causes him to parade around society with a unique style and persona. When he joins your party you can rest assured he'll receive a celebration of his exclusive characteristics.
The ENTp technie with his stereotypical "inventor's ego" has little trouble discerning possibilities in the environment from "that plate looks like a picture frame" to "Won Ton soup won't fill me up like thick mushroom soup".
The infantile erotic attitude of the ENTp technie corresponds with a child-like nature and plenty of needs to have fulfilled. Couple this with his firm communication style and we get a kind of pre-adolescent teenager who will forcibly push for things they want like a needy child who wants all the boy's toys.
The underlying hidden agenda of the ENTp techie stems from his unconscious and misunderstood extroverted ethics function where he will join social parties in the subtle hopes of finding some love and admiration for himself. He'll likely expect his uniqueness factor to assist him in creating his very own sphere of social fusions.
